Kanban Foundation Virtual
This interactive 2-day virtual course introduces participants to the fundamentals of Kanban and shows how it can be used to improve the flow of work in real-world environments. Through instructor-led sessions, discussions, and practical examples, learners gain a solid understanding of Kanban principles and how they translate into daily practice.
Participants will explore how Kanban helps organizations increase transparency, reduce bottlenecks, and improve predictability by optimizing workflows. The course also examines how Kanban influences organizational culture, encourages continuous improvement, and supports evolutionary change. Common challenges and considerations when applying or scaling Kanban across teams and departments are addressed.
Originally developed in Japan as part of just-in-time manufacturing, Kanban has evolved into a widely adopted approach across industries. Today, it is successfully applied in software development, IT operations, product and service management, HR, marketing, sales, and many other knowledge-work environments.
During the course, participants will learn the six core Kanban practices:
-
Visualizing the flow of work
-
Limiting work-in-progress (WIP)
-
Managing and improving flow
-
Making process policies explicit
-
Establishing effective feedback loops
-
Improving collaboratively and evolving experimentally
This course focuses on building both conceptual understanding and practical insight, enabling participants to recognize where and how Kanban tools can be applied within their own context.
