A NEW DESIGNATION – ITIL MANAGING PROFESSIONAL (MP)

In ITIL 4, the ITIL Expert designation is replaced with what will soon be one of the most coveted IT designations yet – ITIL Managing Professional (MP)!

And who better to get your ITIL 4 advanced training with than the world’s largest and most respected ITIL training provider – Pink Elephant.

The two new designations under ITIL 4 will soon be available – “ITIL Managing Professional” and “ITIL Strategic Leader”.

In previous posts, we have already written about the differences between ITIL v3 and ITIL 4. Remember, the good news is that your ITIL v3 education will still be relevant and serve you very well. That’s because ITIL 4 is an evolution of ITIL v3 and its core fundamentals – 26 processes and four functions – have largely been retained, reconfigured, and/or built upon and incorporated into the new 34 ITIL practices. In fact, the more ITIL v3 knowledge – and certifications that you have – the easier it will be for you to leap forward into ITIL 4.

First, you need to know that there is no ITIL v3 equivalent for the ITIL Strategic Leader (SL) designation and therefore no transition path. You will have to follow the ITIL 4 curriculum for the SL designation. More information about the SL designation will be provided in the coming months.

Let’s take a closer look at how you can bridge between ITIL v3 and the new ITIL Managing Professional Designation.

In October, the ITIL 4 bridging module (officially named, the Managing Professional Transition course) will be introduced. And, depending on where you are in your ITIL v3 journey, there are two savvy shortcuts you can take to transition to the ITIL 4 Managing Professional (MP) designation:

Savvy Shortcut #1 – ITIL v3 Experts: Take the five-day ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition course and, upon successful completion, receive your ITIL 4 Managing Professional designation.

Savvy Shortcut #2 – ITIL v3 certification holders: Continue to take ITIL v3 courses. When you’ve acquired a total of 17 ITIL v3 credits, you can skip the ITIL v3 Managing Across The Lifecycle course and once you’ve successfully completed the ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition course, achieve your ITIL 4 Managing Professional designation.
